# TutorPing — full reference for LLMs and AI agents

> TutorPing finds students for independent tutors and lets students and parents find and book those tutors. This file describes the product and the MCP connector in enough detail for an AI assistant to use it.

## What TutorPing does

For tutors:
- Monitors 90+ online communities (Reddit, Discord, Student Doctor Network, Craigslist, forums) for people asking for a tutor or paid academic help.
- Scores every request 0-100 for intent. 75+ means the person is actively looking for a tutor; 90+ means they asked for one explicitly.
- Matches requests to the tutor's subject and sends the relevant ones by email alert and in the dashboard.
- Drafts a short, non-salesy reply in the tutor's own voice that the tutor can post. TutorPing never posts on anyone's behalf.
- Gives every tutor a page at yourname.tutorping.ai with direct booking, Google Calendar sync, session reminders, and a payment link.

For students and parents:
- Search TutorPing tutors by subject, level, location, and hourly rate.
- See a tutor's subject, level, location, rate, and reviews.
- Book a session or free trial directly; both sides get a confirmation email.

Subjects: any — SAT, ACT, ISEE, SHSAT, MCAT, GRE/GMAT, AP and IB, A-levels and IGCSE, math, calculus, statistics, chemistry, biology, physics, English and writing, languages (French, Spanish, Chinese, Japanese, and more), piano, voice, guitar, violin, coding.

## MCP connector

Endpoint: https://tutorping.ai/mcp (also https://app.tutorping.ai/mcp)
Transport: MCP Streamable HTTP, stateless (POST only).
Authentication: none for public tools. Pro tutors unlock their account's tools either with the header `Authorization: Bearer <API key>`, or by using their personal connector URL `https://tutorping.ai/mcp/k/<API key>` in clients that only accept a URL. Keys look like `tp_live_…` and are created in TutorPing → Settings → AI Assistants.

### Public tools (no key)

- `search_tutors(subject?, location?, level?, maxHourlyRate?)` — find tutors. Returns slug, name, headline, subject, level, location, rate, testimonials, page URL, whether they take direct bookings and offer a free trial.
- `get_tutor(slug)` — one tutor's full public profile.
- `get_tutor_availability(slug, days=14)` — open slots for tutors who take online bookings (Pro) (date, time, day) in the tutor's timezone, plus session and trial length.
- `request_booking(slug, date, time, studentName, studentEmail, subject?, type="session"|"trial")` — book an open slot. Confirm details with the user first. Rate-limited.
- `tutoring_demand(subject, days=7)` — how many people recently asked for a tutor in a subject, by community (counts only; the requests themselves go to TutorPing tutors). Useful for tutors sizing demand.
- `how_to_get_leads()` — how a tutor signs up and connects their assistant.

### Tutor tools (API key, Pro plan)

- `get_leads(minScore=75, limit=10, includeHandled=false)` — the tutor's student leads, best first.
- `get_lead(leadId)` — full post, why it scored high, and the saved reply draft.
- `draft_reply(leadId, regenerate=false)` — reply draft in the tutor's voice. Never posts.
- `mark_lead(leadId, status="copied"|"done"|"skipped", becameStudent?="yes"|"not_yet")` — record what the tutor did.
- `get_availability(days=14)` — the tutor's own open slots.
- `create_booking(date, time, studentName, studentEmail, subject?, type?)` — book a student on the tutor's calendar.
- `list_bookings(upcomingOnly=true)` — the tutor's sessions.

### Example flows

- Parent: "Find me an SAT tutor in NYC under $100/hr and book a trial Saturday." → search_tutors → get_tutor_availability → confirm with the parent → request_booking.
- Tutor: "Any new students looking for a chemistry tutor today? Draft a reply to the best one." → get_leads → draft_reply.
- Tutor considering TutorPing: "Is there demand for piano tutors?" → tutoring_demand.
